The story behind the song …“Hippy Turning 50”
My cover song of Hippy Turning 50 was the result of meeting the song’s author, Tom Patty, while strumming guitars with a mutual pal in the San Juan Islands in 2020. Tom, his song, and his retirement lifestyle had been profiled in CNN’s “Life After Work” series 20 years ago. In 2021, Tom encouraged me to give the song a “new life”, and thus my interpretation of his classic:) Thank you to Todd C for introducing me to Tom, and to Tom for writing this classic!
